The DB9’s V12 powers the car from 0-60 in an awesome 4.7 seconds, with a blistering top speed of 186mph. The F1 type paddle gears make the changes wonderfully smooth, while the 19” alloys cling to the road with ease. Aston’s CEO, Dr. Ulrich Bez, claimed that there was “room for Aston Martin to drive a wedge between cars like the 360 Modena and GT models”…the DB9 is that wedge.

It’s so often the case that models belonging to a long lineage have a certain coherence to them, a sense that everything is as it should be. When it comes to the BMW M3, there is a certain amount of “why change a winning formula?” about the manufacturers’ approach. Indeed, this is the first new M3 for years, and many thought the last model had little scope for improvement.

Despite initial appearances the Porsche 997S is 80% new design, engineering and performance. The 997 S has been refined to deliver one of the most responsive driving experiences available, and with Porsche’s world renowned brakes the car is certainly safe! The six-cylinder engine delivers remarkable torque at 400 Nm, while the 355bhp isn’t half bad either!

The Ferrari F430 F1’s Formula One heritage is evident from the moment you get into the car. Capable of 196mph and 0-62mph in only 4 seconds it will cling to the road even the most difficult of conditions. The F1 influenced gearbox gives maximum acceleration and driving ease. Strong influence from Ferrari’s F1 team and its long heritage are evident in the F430, 70% of which is new design. The flared air intakes on the nose recalls the majesty of the 1961 F1 ‘sharknose’.
